Mark Montgomery is an in-house graphic designer for the City of Springfield, Missouri – argued to be the home of the Simpsons with its proximity to Branson among other clues. When not coming up with (amazing) logos, event posters, street banners, and brochures for governmental use, he loves to paint.

He likes to do work in editorial, advertising, character design, children, fine art, watercolor (watercolour if you prefer), acrylic, ink, animals, cartoons, digital, humorous, caricatures, conceptual, and stylized figures.

Examples of Mark’s work can be found in, but not limited to:
Editorial • Advertising • Print • Posters • Logos • Invitations • CD covers • Brochures  • Street banners •  Fine art • Travel and tourism • Government • Theatre • Film/video • Sports • Celebrities • Personalities

Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, Mark has been working in graphics since graduating from Missouri State University in 2001. He recently won four ADDYs for illustration, stationery/business card, event poster and logo design and first place in the 2008 National Art Program’s juried show.

Mark’s experience helps him understand the client’s technical needs as well as their artistic ones. He is very flexible and can generally work in any timeframe and budget. Very easy going and can take constructive criticism well.

When you commission one of Mark’s illustrations you can expect improved corporate image, boost in revenues, award-winning images, enhanced communication.

Mark can work in most any medium, but prefers to do acrylic paintings on gessoed board. He scans the artwork and cleans it up with some final touches. The final piece will be a digital file ready for printing. He is also experienced in Adobe Illustrator for digital vector work.

He finds inspiration in antique poster prints and event posters, Polish poster design history, roots music and instruments, americana, classic cartoons, Thomas Hart Benton, Jesse James, history, and the Old West, old murals on brick buildings, thoughts. He uses a unique mix of brushed abstract texture and stylized imagery that combine for a trully original style.

Mark lives in Springfield, Missouri with his wife, Jenny, and two year old son.
